MORE CONTROL OVER YOUR COSTS

Your costs, at a glance

This monthly cost check puts your own household figures in one place. See a monthly and annual total, then explore the difference between two recurring costs.

Your monthly expenses

Use your own statements to enter monthly amounts. An empty field counts as zero. This calculation stays in your browser and is not saved or sent.

Compare two monthly costs

Found an alternative? Calculate the difference over 12 months, including any one-time costs.

How to use your monthly cost check

Collect your recent bills before entering amounts. Use the regular monthly charge for each category and check that the same expense is not included twice. For example, a bundled service may already include both internet and another subscription. An empty field counts as zero rather than an estimated market price.

The total covers only the figures you enter. It is not a complete spending forecast. Keep a separate note of irregular expenses and any categories missing from the form. Use the annual figure as twelve times the monthly total, rather than a prediction of future prices.

Review an alternative on a consistent basis

The second calculator compares twelve months of a current amount with twelve months of an alternative amount plus a one-time cost. Enter the amounts on the same basis. Check what each product includes before interpreting the difference as a useful change to your budget.

Your monthly cost check runs in your browser. It does not retrieve offers, submit applications or save these entries in a customer account. If you want to keep the result, use your browser’s print or PDF option. For another budgeting approach, explore the CFPB budgeting toolkit.
